The war on gender identity

 Right now, politics in the United States and indeed across the world is in an extraordinary place! As I sit here today, many political controversies fascinate me and perplex Me. Foremost among these controversies is the war on gender identity! Speaking for myself, I cannot figure out why in 2023 this issue is so controversial? That said, it obviously is, so I thought I would attempt to analyze the reasons behind it Firstly, for the sake of transparency I feel that I should state that I do not identify as transgender I am very much an outsider trying to understand this issue as best I can. I will divide my thoughts into 3 main sections Firstly, I will analyze The conflict between the transgender community and certain religious circles that are adamantly opposed to the rights of transgender persons. Secondly, I want to analyze The political influence of the transgender community as well as, the forces that oppose them finally, I will tackle The debate surrounding the right to access gender-affirming care. Since the dawn of time itself religion and social progress have inevitably come into conflict That said through the efforts of many people on both sides of any issue religion has learned to accommodate social progress And vice versa, For example, the peace process In Northern Ireland illustrates perfectly the balance between Strong faith and social tolerance My point is we know it is possible Two To achieve balance however the issue of gender identity. Seems to be a different beast altogether. Let me be clear, that is not to say that all religious people are against the right of the transgender community I am simply saying that there are certain Religious Groups that are totally against the rights of the transgender community and the LGBTQ community as a whole These groups have made their mission to declare holy war On gender identity in doing so, they use their faith as justification To discriminate intimidate and delegitimize anybody who does not fit their narrow interpretation of the Bible! As I stated earlier these groups do not speak for all Christians Far from it. For this reason, it is incredibly unfortunate that these groups are politically powerful and have powerful friends inside and outside the elected representatives. On the other hand, the LGBTQ community is also extremely politically adept and well-connected At first glance, it can see that the country is split down in the middle on this issue When in reality the LGBTQ Plus community quite clearly has the upper hand! In response, the far right has sought to generate controversy where there is seemingly None to be had! Thusly, we come to the debate over the right to access gender-affirming care. The far right would have you believe that this debate is about child protection. In my view, this has absolutely nothing to do with child protection! The far-right has once again Artificially created an issue where there was none before they have done this because they know they are losing the argument! The fact is, they needed to create controversy because without it, they would become irrelevant! I have done news for them, they have only delayed the inevitable they are still going to become irrelevant it is my firm view that history will regard them as nothing more than fringe lunatics who deliberately sought to cause people emotional misery and suffering for their own political purposes! In closing, they are the ones who started this war, but I have no doubt they will not win it people regardless of junior identity or sexual orientation or anything else have a right to exist! History tells us you can only hold people back for so long before they leave you And that, my Friends is exactly what will happen to them in 20 years' time they will be consigned to the ash heap of history and looked upon as narrow-minded fools!
